Meet Sophie

Sophie started out teaching English in a secondary school. Full days in the classroom, with a growing pull towards coaching and the gym.

In 2022 she qualified as a personal trainer with Create, studying for her Level 3 around a full teaching timetable and training her first clients before and after the school day. The same year, she stepped on stage at her first bodybuilding show.

By 2024 she was ready to go all in. She left teaching to coach full-time and focused her work on women’s health and hormones. Today she’s fully booked, with around 40 clients in an all-female community that trains for strength and health.

Five years on from her first course, Sophie is also assessing for Create, helping the next group of trainers qualify the same way she did.

I coach women to get stronger, not smaller. For a long time I believed fitness was about shrinking yourself, and it took me years to unlearn that. Now my clients train for strength and health, they support each other, and they’re building something that lasts. That’s the part I’m proudest of.

The questions people always ask

What made you take the leap?

“The pull towards coaching kept growing while I was teaching. I qualified on the side first, kept teaching, and only went full-time once the work and the clients were there. It wasn’t one big jump. It was a few smaller ones.”

Was studying alongside work realistic?

“Yes, though I won’t pretend it was easy. I did my Level 3 around a full school timetable and trained clients before and after the day. Having support when I needed it made a real difference. If you can give it consistent time, it’s doable.”

What surprised you most about the job?

“How much of it comes down to trust, not just training plans. Once I focused on women’s health and built a proper community, the coaching got better and the rest followed.”

What would you tell someone thinking about it?

“Start before you feel completely ready. Keep your current job if you need the security, qualify alongside it, and build from there. That’s exactly what I did.”
